THE ingenuity of pupils of Amville Private School, Lagos was displayed to the admiration of parents, teachers and guests, that witnessed the maiden edition of the school's Science Fair Competition held recently.Master Dolapo Akindele, a Year 4 pupil, who made an architectural masterpiece of How Electricity gets to Peoples' Home; the procedures it takes, and the dangers of missing a step out of the procedures, emerged the overall best. Miss Oluwabuyi Kumi Owo-Odusi, a Year-three pupil, clinched the second prize with her project on 'Air Pressure and Bouncing Ball', while Simisola Ogundiran, in Year-five, came third with her project on 'Bouncing Egg'.The well-attended event, which showcased the pupils' zeal and ability to formulate, featured series of experimental, non-experimental, theoretical and hypothetical aspects of science, as carried out by the pupils.It was a totally children affair as pupils from invited schools were seen interacting with one another; asking questions on the exhibited projects at the various stands and obviously expressing curiosity at the new discoveries.Speaking shortly after the fair, the Executive Director of the school, Mrs. Mosun Owo-Odusi, hinted that the project was designed to help the pupils develop their creativity and maximize their potentials.'One of our core objectives is to develop children for their own future especially in this ever-changing technology. We taught them what we call enquiry skill in science. We notice they like observing and discovering, so we assigned them to go and investigate and carry out different research on certain categories of science, and here we are', she expressed.The school's Head Teacher, Mrs. Kono-Ugen Ajiri, expressed optimism that with the display of the pupils' originality 'one of them might invent something that would be useful to this country in the nearest future and that is our overall aim.
