GOD in His infinite wisdom made man in a way that none would at anytime become independent of Him.All creation takes root, source and sustenance from Him. No human being can survive a day without fresh air (Psalm 65).Thatis why Jesus Christ, teaching us to use right and acceptable words to pray to our heavenly Father, included the phrase: 'Give us our food for today'. This statement is simply to acknowledge that He is our provider and sustainer. Pause and think about it: what is that single thing you can lay hold on and claim as yours without God' Is it breath, some small part of your body, voice, movement, potential, children or spouse, earth'Can you truly claim ownership of any'All these are evidence of God's unconditional love towards the works of His hand. We must therefore understand and appreciate these gestures from our heavenly and caring Father. We are to acknowledge in our daily life and prayers that He owns everything.Acknowledging God about everything is not a once and for all affair. It is a daily routine. These divine prayer patterns, as taught by the Son of God, corroborate his teachings and deeds. This aspect of the Lord's Prayer was expatiated on in one of his sermons in Luke 12:22-31. Here, he gave lessons on money and possessions. He told his disciples: 'Don't worry about everyday life whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of more than food and clothing' And don't worry about food, what to eat and drink. Don't worry whether God will provide it for you. These things dominate the thoughts of most people. But your Father already knows your needs. He will give you all you need from day to day, if you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern'.In God's kingdom, worry will not yield anything positive. That is why Jesus warned against it.Instead of worrying about your daily needs, seek His kingdom and follow the advice of Apostle Paul: 'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus'.'Imagine never worrying about anything! It seems like impossibility; we all have worries on the job, in our homes, at school. But Paul's advice is to turn our worries into prayers. Do you want to worry less' Then pray more! Whenever you start to worry, stop and pray,' writes a Bible scholar.skabiaraofciem@yahoo.co.uk
