IN Isaiah 60:1, the Lord instructed us: 'Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.'When the Lord tells us to arise, He wants us to get up from the lowly position the enemy has placed us, causing us to be depressed and lose hope. When He tells us to shine, He is saying that even though the evidence of what we want Him to do in our lives has not manifested, we should walk, smile and rejoice because He has already done it. When God looks at us, He is not seeing our present situations or problems; rather He is seeing the position that He created us to be in. So we should stop feeling depressed and making our enemies rejoice over our lives. Instead, we should arise and shine and make our enemies angry.Psalm 126:1-2 states, 'When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them.' In the same way, when the blessings that the Lord has for you begin to manifest, you will feel as if you are dreaming, as if it could not possibly be real, and your mouth too will be filled with laughter. You may have a problem that has followed you for some time. You may have gone from pillar to post, sought the help of everyone you know and tried everything within your power but nothing worked. Then one day, when you least expect it, the 'God of suddenly', the El-Elyon says to you, 'Arise and shine for your light has come. Your problems are solved!'When the glory of the Lord arises upon you, when you enter a room, no matter what you are wearing or what you look like, before you even say a word, everyone in that room will acknowledge that a significant person has entered in. When the glory of the Lord is upon you, every shut door will open and opportunities that were before you that you didn't see will suddenly become apparent to you. When the Lord tells you to arise and shine, He is simply telling you to get up, shake off the spirit of poverty, lack or infirmity that had been following you and step into prosperity, blessings and goodness. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1, 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' When He says arise and shine, the Lord is asking us to step out in faith. Even though we have not seen the manifestation of the miracle, if we believe that once He has said it, He will do it, then we must act on His word. The reason we doubt God is because we do not see our situations in the same way He does. He has created us to be the head and not the tail, to be the top and not the bottom. We need to tell ourselves that it does not matter what our current circumstances are. All we should care about is doing what the Lord has asked us to do, because all power and authority belong to Him; no matter what our eyes tell us, if the Lord says it is done, we should believe it is done. The miracle of God is in obedience to His word. Until we do what God expects us to do, we will not lay hold of the blessings He has in store for us.In Luke 5:5:4-7, when Peter obeyed God's command and let down his nets, he moved from the realm of 'not enough to more than enough'.The Lord can do the same for you too if you are willing to obey Him and avoid the use of head knowledge.Pastor Seyi Ogunorunyinka is General Overseer, The Promised Land Ministries, Solution Ground, Surulere, Lagos
