NRC raises train services in Lagos

THE Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Monday increased the frequency of its daily train services in the Lagos metropolis from 12 to 16.NRC Managing Director, Mr. Seyi Sijuwade, said the measure was to reduce the hardship faced by commuters due to the ongoing repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge.A breakdown of the new traffic schedule showed that the first passenger train takes off from Agbado at 5.15 a.m. and arrives in Iddo Terminus at 6.29 a.m. while the second train moves from Ijoko by 5.40 a.m. and arrives in Iddo by 7.29 a.m.The third train departsIjoko at 6.20 a.m. and arrives in Apapa by 8.18 a.m., followed by the fourth and fifth trains from Ijoko at 7.00 a.m. and 9.35 a.m. and arrive in Iddo, at 8. 40 a.m. and 11.17 a.m. in that order .The sixth train leaves Ijoko at 10.20 a.m. to arrive in Iddo at 11.56 a.m. while the seventh departs Ijoko by 2.15 p.m. for Apapa at 4.07 p.m. while the eight train leaves Ijoko by 4.15 p.m. and arrives in Iddo by 5.56 p.m.From Iddo, two passenger trains leave for Ijoko at 7.00 a.m. and 7.40 a.m. to arrive Ijoko by 8.39 a.m. and 9.39 a.m. in that order while another leaves Apapa at 12.00 noon and arrives in Ijoko at 1.48 p.m.The services, which start at 5.15 a.m. daily, are expected to lapse at 9.00 p.m.Each of the passenger trains is a combination of economy and air-conditioned coaches.
