NPL sends staff packing

THE Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board has resolved to send some of its employees packing. This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its 14th board meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja.The statement said given the need to restructure the NPL for better service delivery, the board after rising from its 14th session decided to do a total overhaul of the system and this will be done periodically to suit the demands of the Nigeria Premier League for greater performance, as such, as a prelude to the restructuring, downsizing of staff has become imperative.In this wise, some staff will have to leave immediately, it added.The board stated that the second stanza of the 2010/2011 season will resume this weekend with matches scheduled to hold on Saturday and Sunday.It also revealed that mid-week matches will be played to accommodate state finals of the Federation Cup which will take place on May 14 and 15.The NPL board also congratulated president goodluck Jonathan on the victory of the Flying Eagles at the the just concluded Africa Youth Championship (AYC) in South Africa.
