Published by Tribune on Fri, 06 May 2011

Motorists  plying the LagosAbeokuta Expressway   have called on the police and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency   (FERMA)  to block the illegal U-turn point at Ajegunle area of Sango Toll GateThe motorists accused commercial drivers of removing one of the barricades  along the road , thereby creating an avenue for them to make   illegal U-turn, instead of the approved U-turn at the Toll Gate. The angry  motorists also  stated that the illegal U-turn was creating serious traffic gridlock around Ajegunle, as the commercial drivers, use the unapproved U-turn point, thereby causing traffic problem.A private driver, Nuru Alao bemoaned theeffrontery of the   commercial bus drivers to create U-turn for themselves  and otherlawlessdrivers , without giving consideration to the other road users.Alao , a resident of Sango Ota in Ogun State,   stated that  the barricade was removed a few days ago and added that the bus drivers might remove more of those barricades, unless the security agents do something fastHe said,I dont know the kind of lawless society that we found ourselves  or how can any right thinking person removes the median in the middle of the road just for him to turn A resident of Sango, who identified herself as  Temitope Osho , informed Community News that the commercial bus driver were taking advantage of the created U-turn point  to cheat on their  passengersTope stated that instead of them to take their passengers to toll gate after  collecting money from them with the  promise that they would be taken to  Toll Gate , they usually force them to come down them at Ajegunle and make U-turn.She, however, appealed to the police to bring back the removed barricade and stop the commercial bus drivers from turning at Ajegunle , instead of Toll Gate.
