Bankers tasked on improved ethnics, strategy for growth

WITH recent reports of bankers involvement in financial crimes, a call has gone out to financial institutions in the country to uphold ethical standards in their financial pratices and adopt strategies for improved customer relationship.The Managing Partner of Deji Olarewaju and Company, Barrister Deji Olarewaju, stated this recently at the CIBN workshop, in Lagos.Olarenwaju explained that the importance of ethics is to ensure effectiveness of control processes and effective of policies and practises.According to him, the business environment is increasingly competitive and every business exists to make profit. It is one thing to have quality product or service, it is another to market and delivery effectively.He noted that great market share and customer retention depends largely on the ability of the organisation to have sound business development relationship management strategy for effective delivery system.Olarenwaju stressed that the banking sector need to ensure reliability of information, ensure that examination report show a true and fair view, need for proper evaluation and that report comply with the requirements of relevant statues.Also speaking, MD/CEO, Strategy and Leadership Development Consulting, Mr. Olu Odugbemi added that the industry need to understand news about the economy, durations, trends and what arts organisations have done in past recessions.He added that the banking industry needs to determine the most import service attributes for meeting and exceeding customers expectations. As well as, determine the import service attributes on which competitors are most vulnerable, determine existing and potential service capabilities of the company.Others are determining the gap between market opportunity and a companys capabilities and decide whether the company can make requisite steps in the service strategy creation process.The service strategy defines the broad parameters of the service providers role. It clarifies the serve tasks and provide benchmarks against which employees can judge their performance and managers can judge the employees an organisation performance, he said.Odugbemi concluded that the industry need to have a good service strategy, which must emphasises quality, offer value to customers.
