Lawmaker donates ambulances to hospitals in Ogun

A member, representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside in the House of Representatives, Honourable. Abiodun Abudu- Balogun, has donated two ambulances to state hospitals in Ogun State.Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, who made the donation to the State Hospitals in Ijebu-Igbo and Ijebu-Ife, described the state of the hospital, as appalling.He said 'it is shocking to find out that there were no ambulances at the two state hospitals. As a responsive representative, this is not acceptable. We shall continue to play our role as much as possible to support government where necessary and this is part of such step to join the present government in rebuilding Ogun State in the area of health.'The lawmaker blamed the previous administrations in the state for not providing state hospitals with necessary equipment and amenities to work with.Abudu-Balogun, however, cautioned against wrong use of the ambulances, saying, 'it is only when necessary that the siren should be used.'We should not create further havoc to lives that we are after to save. I will not be pleased if report of abuse is made,' he warned.Receiving the ambulance on behalf of the Gedneral Hospital at Ijebu igbo, Dr Adeniyi Olaniun, described the gesture as unprecedented.He revealed that the General Hospital had written letters to influential people in the local government seeking for assistance.Olaniun said the donation came to the staff and management as a surprise, promising that the equipment would be used in the interest of the society.Dr Adeniyi urged the donor to assist the hospital in other areas.The Ajalorun of Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo, commended the lawmaker and urged the hospital management to imbibe the spirit of maintenance culture.
