We Will Not Disappoint Nigerians In Tanzania, Obuh Promises

CHIEF Coach of Nigeria's U20 football team, the Flying Eagles, John Obuh, has assured that his wards would not disappoint the country as they confront their counterparts from Tanzania, Ngorongoro Heroes in today's Africa Youth Championship qualifier, at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.Obuh was responding to a charge handed the team by Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, who in his goodwill message, urged them to make the country proud today by emerging victorious in their battle with Tanzania.Obuh, former coach of the country's Under 17 football team, the Golden Eaglets, thanked Keshi for his spurring the team up with his kind wordsmaintaining that they would strive to come out tops in order to give Nigerians something to cheer about.According to the gaffer: 'We are very mindful of what we need to do on Sunday (today) and so we will not disappoint Nigerians.'Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Chris Green, who conveyed Keshi's message to the team said the former Nigerian captain urged the Flying Eaglesnot to panic or play under any pressure, but instead go out there and enjoy themselves via a good match and win the all-important qualifier.'We are behind you and are praying for your success. We are confident you will come out victorious in this match...You should therefore not panic, but instead play your normal game and win for our country.'Tanzania is hosting the first leg 2013 African Youth Championship qualifying match today and the return leg is slated for Ilorin in a fortnight.The overall winners of this encounter will take on the winners of the game between South Africa and Congo for a place in next year's AYC to be staged by Algeria from March.Meanwhile two Tanzania U20 players, Ramadan Hassan Khamis and Manula Aishi Salum, will miss the encounter having been suspended from taking part. Khamis features for Mtibwa Sugar, while Salum plays for Azam.Ugandan match commissioner, Charles Masembe confirmed the suspension of the two players during the pre-match meeting held Friday night in Dar es Salam.The Tanzanians, who will be led by Yanga player Seme Omega, will wear their traditional deep blue with green trimmings shirt over black shorts, while the Flying Eagles will be on green-white strips.The match will kick-off 4pm local time, that is 2pm Nigerian time, at the 60,000-capacity National Stadium in Dar es Salam with Kenyan match officials in charge.
