Published by Tribune on Wed, 01 Aug 2012

Could this be the best informative book ever written by a Nigerian on tourism'Wait until you have the book on your desk before you make any conclusion,But certainly, Fidelia Salami, a tourism practitioner and marketer who has tranversed this country from Lagos to Gombe and Port Harcourt to Kaura Namoda is probably setting a pace in the tourism sector going by the contents, which are the findings of her research in her long years of tourism practice and promotion in Nigeria. The book, Tourism in Nigeria; the incredible journey into the hearth of nature. With its forewords was written by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has 200 pages of detailed information about Nigeria and its tourism.According to Fidelia, 'I realised there is a dearth of quality materials and books on Nigeria tourism. I mean a good book which can supply of information on the hidden potentialities of tourism and I summoned up the courage to embark on this project.'Fidelia said 'I travelled all over this country. I visited both the popular and some unknown sites in Nigeria. I interacted with many people of all classes. I have watched many festivals, but I am not happy that most of these wonderful assets are unknown to many, even the locals, not to talk of the foreigners. There must be an end to this.'The book has taken 12 good years of painstaking attention and information gathering all over the country.' Honestly, the book has sapped me to the marrow. The need to put up an un-putdown-able book goaded me into doing the best. She revealed that the book would be launched in the last quarter of the year.
