Adamawa To Pay Council Health WorkersEnhanced Salary

THE Adamawa State government yesterday agreed to resume payment of the suspended enhanced health workers salary  (HATISS VI) to local government health workers.The state Chairman of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Mr Jeremiah Ngyakwar, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the development followed the suspension of the planned strike by members of the union following a meeting held with government officials.We have resolved our grievances with the government at a meeting between the two parities. Government has written to the Ministry of Local government for the restoration of HATISS VI.The implementation will resume in May, and we hope to later pursue the arrears, he said.Payment of HATISS VI to local government health workers was suspended three months after its implementation by the Ministry of Local Government in July 2009.The state government had insisted on verifying the actual number of health workers at the third tier level and those qualified for the enhanced salary
