NFF constrained by funds 'Umeh

The leadership of the nation's football house says it is operating within the limit of what has been described as a shoe string budget in spite of the massive programmes that have to be executed, says the first vice president of the board, NFF, Chief Mike Umeh.According to the football chieftain, the issue of finance has put the football house on its toes thus necessitating the cut down of some extraneous expenses.However, he was not willing to divulge these extraneous expenses but volunteered.''We are cutting our coat according to our clothe, especially if you come to think of the fact that our major source of finance now is government funds.Pressed to highlight the contributions of their partners and sponsors, he posited that what comes in from them is just to augment most of their programmes.The nation's football federation draws funds from world football governing body (FIFA) annually and other grants from the continental football ruling body CAF. But the NFF vice president says top level prudential guidelines is what informs all expenses now."Our monies are all tied to various programmes and of course you know about all these various international competitions we are involved in so you can imagine our task in terms of finances,'' he concluded.
