Communities call for sack of NDDC boss

Coalition of the Coastal/Swampy Oil Producing Communities of Bayelsa and Delta states has called for the immediate sack of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Christian Oboh, for allegedly failing to include the Coastal/Swampy communities in the new budget of the interventionist agency.Signatories to the letter addressed to President Goodluck Jonathan were; Francis Amamogian, Amatu I, Paymaster Tiko, Amatu II, Victor Disi, Agge, Mr. Remain Koudisegha, Azamabiri, Badagry Lucky, Bilabiri I, Isaiah Seizi, Bilabiri II, Amos Ezetu, Bisangbene, Joseph Meinfade, Ekeni, Abraham Sukpa, Ezetu, Gbatoigha Paul, Orobiri, Emmanuel Douglass, Ogbeintu.Others were Saturday Ebiwareme, Letugbene, Idani Ebiabowei, Egbemo-Angalabiri, Isaiah Ingo, Odimodi, Andrew Isama, Beniboye and Kenneth Etuabe, Ogbotobo.The communities explained in the letter that Agbami Oilfield, Bonga Oilfield, EA oil field, Opukushi Oilfield, Tunu/Cambo, Clough Creek, and Pennington Oilfield were facilities spread across the communities.According to the communities, the creation of the NDDC, as usual, was met with a lot of hopes and expectations in the oil producing communities, adding that at the beginning, the previous managements of the NDDC made a fair attempt to bring socio-economic development to the oil producing communities, but the same cannot, by any stretch of imagination, be said of the present management of the NDDC led by Dr. Christian Oboh.The communities, in the letter, urged the president to, as a matter of urgency, constitute an independent panel to evaluate the implementation of the 2011 budget of the NDDC, adding that the consideration and approval of the NDDC 2012 budget should be stopped pending the satisfactory evaluation of the 2011 budget of the commission.The letter reads further, 'we urged the National Assembly to ask the Manager Director to collate all the projects due to our communities in the yearly budgets from the inception of the NDDC. For failing in its primary functions, we call on Mr. President to relieve Dr. Christian Oboh, Managing Director, NDDC, of his appointment.
