Kogi: Don't abandon projects, Wada warns contractors

Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada has warned contractors handling various projects in the state against abandoning them.Wada gave the warning in Lokoja when he opened the deputy governor's new office, stressing further that all projects must be completed in accordance with the contract agreements.He said sanctions would be issued against any contractor who failed to deliver projects as scheduled in the contract agreements.The governor said he was commitment to completing all existing contracts awarded by the past administrations in the state.He said the contract was awarded by the past administration at N53 million but was later reviewed to N78 million.He also warned that any officer in the state who could not discharge his or her functions effectively would be disciplined.Wada promised that his administration would allocate buildings to serve as offices for the ministries which did not have accommodation.The governor, therefore, urged the workers in the deputy governor's office to clean and maintain the complex always.Mr Yomi Awoniyi, the deputy governor, had earlier in his speech, commended Wada for his commitment to the provision of conducive work environment for workers.He said the governor's effort would stimulate effective public service delivery in the state.
