Govt Promises Automatic Employment For Ijaw Languague Graduates

THE Bayelsa State Government has promised automatic 'employment scholarship' to graduates of the Ijaw (Izon) language.Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Dr. Felix Tuodolo, in a chat with The Guardian in Yenagoa, said orientation had already begun with the Diploma students of the Izon language at the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU) in Ammossoma.The commissioner had noted that, in furtherance of the project, the study of Ijaw Language, as a full-fledged course, was to commence at the centre for Niger Delta studies at the University next academic session.The commissioner disclosed that graduates of the Ijaw Language School would be awarded Ordinary National Diploma (OND).According to him, to underscore government's seriousness in the Ijaw language project, enrolled students will be offered scholarship throughout the period of the their study.Stressing the commitment of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson to the study and propagation of the Ijaw language and culture, Tuodolo noted that everything would be done to guarantee that the success of the project.
