Bomb blasts: Stern security measure for Abuja coming soon

With explosivesrocking someparts of the country including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, the FCT Administration has proposed a N2, 558, 833, 910 support for security services in the area, as part of  measures targeted at making the nations capital safe and secure.The fund is expected to assist the security agencies offset their running cost and procure crime fighting equipment, including the Closed Circuit Television, vehicles and communication gadgets.Disclosing this while defending the FCT 2011 statutory budget before the House of Representatives Committee on FCT in Abuja on Thursday, FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, noted that the fund was contained in the proposed budget and targeted at augmenting the equipment and personnel requirement of the police and other security agents.He observed that the move would contribute in making Abuja a pride of the nation while adequate security would be put in place to safeguard life and property in the area.The minister admitted that the Joint Security Management Committee comprising the FCT and its neighbouring states had not been able to meet for some months now owing to what he described as conflict in the timetable and programme of the stakeholders.He, however, assured that the FCT administration had been able to establish a sound relationship with  security agencies while the capacity development of their officers had been intensified in order to detect crimes before they are committed in the area.
