Rockview Hotels/FHA Ladder Tennis Tourney Quarterfinals Holds Today

THE quarterfinals of this years edition of Rockview/FHA Ladder Tennis tournament will hold today with defending champion, Edu Ofoegbu, who outclassed Tony Ugochukwu in two straight sets of 6-0, 6-2, among the gladiators.A two-time former champion, Charles Didimakon, who is also a top favourite for the title, is also in the hunt for a semifinal ticket. He defeated a qualifier into the main draw, Kingsley Ewuzie, also by two straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last eight.Also battling for a semifinal place is the President of the club, Okey Agu, who dismissed Oscar Irozuru in straight sets of 6-1, 6-3, the same with Chidi Nwafor defeated Eva Nwachukwu 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 in the previous round.Another player in the last eight is Bello Ummai, who beat Okey Ugboaja 7-5, 6-4, just as Innocent Ezemo, who made no pretentions about his aspirations when he thrashed Chyke Nwalie in two straight sets 6-0, 6-1 in a rather one-sided match.Emma Umenwa defeated Amobi Ikeh, who retired at one set a-piece due to some inexplicable reasons, while Lucky Edovie booked the last quarterfinal slot without hitting the ball, when his opponent Ifeanyi Nzoiwu withdrew from their game due to a nagging knee injury.
