Enyimba Sure Of Success Despite Stars Absence

Published by Guardian on Sun, 08 May 2011

ENYIMBA Coach, Okay Emordi, says the absence of Flying Eagles star, Emmanuel Anyanwu, and his central defence partner, Nnaemeka Anyanwu, will not affect his teams chances of winning todays CAF Champions League clash with Libyas Al Ittihad at the Aba Stadium. The winner of todays game qualifies for the group stage of the competition following the crisis in Libya, which has forced the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to rule that the tie would be decided by only the result in Aba.Emmanuel Anyanwu is in South Korea with the Flying Eagles, while Nnaemeka is injured.Speaking on the chances of his team, Emordi reveals that he has been able to plug the holes created by the duos absence, adding that the Peoples Elephant has capable alternatives for all the regular players.Nnaemekas case is not as bad as we earlier feared, but if he is not fit to play, there are other players capable of manning his position. The major thing is that we have a stromg squad that will do the job on Sunday, so there is no cause for alarm, Emordi said.Nnaemeka Anyanwu copped his injury in Port Harcourt, where the team spent some time preparing for the clash with the Libyans. The team returned to Aba on Friday for its final preparation for the tie.
