Jigawa signs MoU with USAID on reproductive health

JIGAWA State government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United State Agency For International Development (USAID) for quality reproductive health care service delivery in the state.An agreement was also signed to boost malaria control, which is the most common disease affecting every family in the state.This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relation Officer of the state Ministry of Health, Comrade Mati Ali and also made available to The Guardian in the state.According to the statement, the Association for Reproductive Health (ARFH) a non-governmental organisation was engaged by the Agency to implement the programme with a lifespan of four years.According to the statement, the state has no financial commitment in the agreement, however, it indicated that it would not contravene or override the bilateral arrangement signed between Federal Government and United States government.'Speaking at the occasion, the representative of Jigawa State government, who is also the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Tafida pledged to abide by the agreement and give all necessary support to achieve the desire goals.The commissioner added that Jigawa State was ever ready to enter into partner with anyone who expresses interest in supporting the state to improve its health care service delivery and any aspect that would enhance the wellbeing of the state populace.The U.S representative, Mr. Marty Bell said they entered into the agreement after critical observation of the state government's commitment to controlling the high rate of child and maternal deaths and other problems associated with reproduction.
