YCE expresses concern over security situation

THE Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), on Thursday, expressed concern over the security situation in the country and called terrorists to order, to enhance the unity and progress of the country.The council also warned against the incursion of terrorists into the South-West zone of the country.The YCE, in a comuinique issued at the end of its executive council meeting, under the leadeship of Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (retd), in Ibadan, Oyo State, said it would not stay idle watching the country being destroyed by some misguided elements.In the communique, signed by Major-General Adebayo; secretary-general, Chief Idowu Sofolahan and publicity secretaty, Mr Yemi Falade, the council said measures had been put in place to ensure that dissidents did not invade the South-West.In a related development, Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone XI, Ghandy Orubebe, on Thursday, disclosed that the police had put in place measures aimed at preventing the spread of terrorism in the South-West.Orubebe, while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, during a visit to the state police command, said the police were in proper position to stop the spread of the insurgence to the South-West, adding that they were up to the task.He added that the police would not only curtail the incursion of terrorism into the zone, but would also ensure that the dastardly killing of innocent Nigerians and burning of places of worship in the northern part of the country was brought to an end.According to him, whenever the sect introduced new device, the police also tried to change its tactics aimed at curtailing its excesses.On curruption, he said the leadership of the force had been working to ensure there was sanity in the system.
