Best Booking Options for WWE to Reintroduce Titus O'Neil After Suspension

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 11 Apr 2016

A powerhouse is posed to return, as the end of Titus O'Neil's suspension means a deeper roster for WWE.While a flood of wrestlers went down in the past few months with injury, O'Neil lost his spot on stage due to an incident where he grabbed Vince McMahon's arm on live TV. A two-month suspension followed. Those months have now come and gone.PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported, "O'Neil's suspension officially ends on 4/10 so he should return by next week's TV tapings."O'Neil's return won't be the world-shaking kind, but his presence has value aplenty. The midcard title scene needs more contenders, NXT call-ups need rivals to push them, and inserting The Real Deal into the rising tag team division would be a smart move.WWE has a number of prime options in front of it.Before his suspension, O'Neil was enjoying quite the push. Per CageMatch.net, had won 12 straight singles matches beforelosing to Adam Rose on Feb. 8. Overall, he had an .857 winning percentage in 2016.Some of that momentum he gained has certainly dissipated by now, but WWE can balance that out by creating a memorable reentry for O'Neil. Let him be a part of a surprise moment. Thrust him into a narrative right away. One of the easiest stories to insert him into is the chase for a championship. The ChallengerAhead of WrestleMania 32, Zack Ryder, Sami Zayn, Stardust and others all set their sights on the Intercontinental Championship. Seeing that many hungry wrestlers strive to win that title boosts its prestige. It makes it feel more desired, more important. That championship is a simple, effective way to bring back O'Neil.Have The Miz come out to the ring and brag about winning and retaining the IC last week. Let him talk about how he disposed of Ryder and that there's no worthy challenger left out there for him. The champ then issues an open challenge.O'Neil answers. To play up O'Neil as an intimidating force, The Miz can then do his best to back out of the match. He can try to run away, only to have The Real Deal fling him back into the ring. This route would help keep the spotlight on the IC title. It would be a chance to show off The Miz's heel ways should he escape by some underhanded means.WWE can then have O'Neil battle with other potential challengers as he attempts to get another crack at the gold or feud with The Miz himself. The CavalryThe first glimpses of Baron Corbin on the main roster indicate WWE wants to paint him as a wrecking ball, a heartless, fearsome predator. Assaulting Dolph Ziggler last week was a showcase of that side of him. Corbin, though, will soon need some other men to stand in his way. He needs impressive victories and a wake of destruction to truly get his momentum going.O'Neil can aid him there while playing a babyface fans can get behind.Have Corbin attack Ziggler after a match. The referee is powerless to stop it. The Lone Wolf simply throttles Ziggler outside the ring.In comes O'Neil, running down the entrance ramp. The Real Deal then slugs it out with Corbin, kick-starting the next chapter for the newcomer's story. In the coming weeks, O'Neil can then push Corbin with hard-hitting matches, only to fall. Corbin would get a boost from beating on such a powerful man. O'Neil, meanwhile, would get a chance to show off his gutsin hanging with this newly arrived monster. The PartnerThe tag team division is suddenly set up for success. With Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady now a part of the main roster and with The Vaudevillains having made their SmackDown debut, WWE's options in terms of tag team rivalries have grown.Adding The Prime Time Players to that mix is smart. The division would be bolstered by even more fresh combinations and a number of teams pining for New Day's championship.WWE can welcome two teams at once by using O'Neil as a key figure. He and Darren Young could pop out of the curtain and head to the ring where they announce their intention of reaching the top of the division. O'Neil says he's back and ready to move up the tag ladder. In marches Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows. The duo has long been rumored to be WWE-bound. Their arrival may now be imminent.Dave Meltzer wrote on F4WOnline.com, "At last word, Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows were scheduled to travel to Los Angeles for Raw."The former Bullet Club members could announce their arrival by attacking The Prime Time Players, opening the door for a number of stories moving forward. Gallows and Anderson could simply go on a rampage and take out team after team. The Prime Time Players could be their first test.Or getting walloped by Gallows and Anderson lights a fire under Young and O'Neil, having them go on a tear of their own.In each of these potential entry points for O'Neil, an element of surprise is followed by him being part of a storyline. That's the basic formula for having him reenter the WWE landscape and make an impacton the midcard.
