Published by Tribune on Mon, 13 Aug 2012

RESIDENTS of Bembo community, Apata-Ganga in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Ibadan, have appealed to the management of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to repair faulty electric installations in the area in order to prevent another fire disaster in the area, as many people in Apata are yet to recover from the electrocution of some traders at Agbekoya market in the area, recently. While speaking with Community News, some residents of Bembo, Opeolu area, Elere communities and other areas, complained that there were some weak electric poles in the area that needed to be repaired, changed or replaced with new ones, adding that failure to embark on the repair of such installation may spell doom for residents of the area.Mr Taiwo Alade, a resident of Bembo community, explained that some electric poles were about to fall and the cables on such poles are now close to the roof of some houses.Another resident of Opeolu area on Bembo road, Mrs Feyisetan Alabi said, 'there is the urgent need for the field officers of PHCN, Apata office, to visit the area to rectify some of their faulty electric poles so that innocent lives would not be lost. We don't want to be electrocuted in Bembo area, therefore, we are calling on the relevant authorities or agency to attend to our cry,' she stated.
