Black nite with Mode Men

IT was a night of style and glamour as Mode Men magazine recently staged this years edition of its yearly show, Black Nite.Organised as part of the activities to mark the magazines 5th anniversary, the event, held at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, attracted stylish Nigerians, who strutted the black carpet in fabulous outfits.Before the commencement of the actual show, guests were treated to special cocktail on the black carpet, with a black bar set up by Hennessy and loaded with their brands, all at no fee. The cocktail, which turned into a sort of networking session for the invitees, lasted for about an hour, before they were ushered into the Grand Ball Room.Anchored by the duo of Stella Damasus, who glowed in gold turtleneck gown and Frank Edoho of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, the event adhered to its traditional dress code  black for the guys and gold for the ladies.Rap artiste, Emex, was the first to liven the stage, followed by Kage, who did a special track in memory of the late rapper, Dagrin, before wowing the audience with a remix of Michael Jacksons Rock With You.In his address, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the mens lifestyle publication, Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, thanked Nigerians, especially those, who had supported the magazine for over the five years of its existence.It also featured performance by Femi, Praiz and F.B.I, a dance group that wowed the audience with electrifying steps.The gig was spiced with runway fashion shows by Nigerian fashion labels such as Disciples, Clothes Afrik and Ohimai Atafo, who was the star designer of the day.Comedians, Julius Agwu and Gbenga Adeyinka also got slots to thrill the audience with their jaw-breaking jokes.The highpoint of the night was the performance by rap artistes, M.I, who proved his rating as one of the countrys bests. The rapper, who used the opportunity to narrate his relationship with the magazine, took the audience down the memory lane with his old hits, before crowning his gig with some of his latest works. Number One, one of the tracks in his latest album, was good enough to drag the likes of Stella Damasus to the dance floor.In keeping with the tradition of the event, there was a special auction sale aimed at raising money for charity.Celebrities at the event include Jim Iyke, Adeleke Sijuade, Kehinde Dacosta-Lawrence, Gbenga Adeyinka, DJ Shy Shy Shyllon, Dayo Adeneye, Kayode Kasunmu, Uti Nwanchukwu, Ene Lawani, Lara George, Maleek Shehu, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Osaze Ebueku and others.
