Mark distances self from plot to remove minority leader

PRESIDENT of the Senate, Senator David Mark, on Sunday, distanced himself from the alleged plot to remove the Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume, from office, even as he called on Akume's party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), to restrain itself from name-calling and put its house in order.Mark, who described the allegation as crude and shocking, noted that as a senator elected on the platform of the majority party in the Senate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he did not attend the meetings of the minority parties.''I am not a member of the minority parties. I do not attend the meetings of the minority parties. How then do I get involved in the plot to remove the minority leader' Senator Mark queried.He advised the ACN 'to put its house in order if it smelt a rat,' adding that, "the Senate as a body is cohesive and united in enacting laws that will continue to improve the standard of living of all Nigerians."The President of the Senate warned ACN not to create disaffection in the one united family Senate of very committed statesmen and women with its parochial and narrow minded views.
