Police: Man questioned in constable shooting not a suspect

HOUSTON (AP) ' Houston police say a man questioned in the shooting of a Texas deputy constable has been ruled out as a suspect in an attack authorities have described as an ambush.Police spokesman Victor Senties (Sen-TEE'-us) says detectives are still hunting for the gunman who seriously injured Harris County Deputy Constable Alden Clopton.A man showed up at a fire station near the scene of Clopton's shooting Wednesday night south of downtown Houston carrying a gun magazine. He later told investigators he had a gun before arriving at the station.Senties said Friday that the man has been charged with being a felon in possession but that his case is not related to Clopton's shooting.Doctors have said Clopton suffered six wounds to his chest and abdomen and should fully recover.Join the conversation about this story
