The world's largest online dating company just locked down a URL for Trump fans

Published by Business Insider on Mon, 18 Apr 2016

Are you a big fan of Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump, and also looking for love' Inthis hot political season, you don't want toaccidentally swipe right ona Ted Cruz supporter. Or worse! That's where "TrumpPeopleMeet.com" comes in.TrumpPeopleMeet.com is a URL owned by the companybehind BlackPeopleMeet, ItalianPeopleMeet, OurTime, andmost tellinglyDemocraticPeopleMeet and RepublicanPeopleMeet. The company that owns all these sites is known as People Media, a subsidiary of IAC. And what is IAC' It's the conglomerate that owns Match.com, OKCupid, and Tinderthe three biggestdating servicesin the world. The Trump supporter-focused dating site has yet to launch. Indeed, IAC says it will never launch."We absolutely have no intention of launching TrumpPeopleMeet.com," a representative told Tech Insider. Rather, it's an instance of a conglomerate protecting its branding, lest a competitor snatch up the URL.Going to the site right now results in a "unable to locate" message. It may never launch, but we're guessing that if it does, it'll go live sooner than later to capitalize on The Donald's popularity ahead ofthe Republican National Convention in July. An IAC rep re-confirmed that there are "no plans" at the moment to make the URL into anything more than a holding. And if you askus, thatseems like a hugemissed opportunity. We're talking about a dedicated group of peopleTrump supporterswho want to find love among other like-minded people. And that's right up People Media's alley!TrumpPeopleMeet.comperfectly fits in with the laser-targeted demographic approach that People Media dating sites take. The company expanded out from age-, nationality-, and race-based dating sites into political leanings already with two of its dating sitesan exclusively Trump-focused one makes a lot of sense. Make dating great again! There's a perfect market hole that's being filled here. If you're one of the millions of people who support Trump, chances are you're not looking to end up on a date with a strident Clinton supporter. Love may be about compromise, but Trump supporters know that compromise isn't an option. And when there's no option for compromise, there's only one choice: Donald J. Trump. So come on, IAC: Build the website!Join the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: The easiest way to clear out a ton of space on your iPhone superfast
