Cooperative society awards certificates to members

MEMBERS of the public have been advised to cultivate the habit of establishing cooperative societies in their various wards and local governments as doing this would help them to have a sense of saving for the unforseeable future and would also prevent individuals from eating their fruits and seeds together.The Coodinator of the Oyo State Committee on Ethics and Values Cooperative Societies, Alhaji Kamorudeen Abiodun Aderibigbe, stated this recently, during the official distribution of bye laws and presentation of registration certificates to the Federal Government's recognised and approved Ethics and Values Cooperative Societies in different local government areas of Oyo State.In his address to hundreds of registered members who converged inside the audorium of the Ibadan North West Local Government Council, Onireke, Ibadan, Alhaji Aderibigbe said the rate at which membership of the Ethics and Values Cooperative Societies was spreading in different wards and local government counicls in the state was very encouraging, adding that people have started to appreciate the many benefits of being members of cooperative societies.He further told the audience that there were many cooperative societies in the state and the country at large , 'but Ethics and Value Cooperative societies is a Federal Government's project, assisting members to be self-reliant and dependent. 'Therefore, I would enjoing many Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots to join the cooperative society because they have many things to gain from it,' he stated.The state coordinator also tasked members to spread their hands of fellowship to their friends, families, cronies and neighbours, stressing that doing so would help a lot in developing the society, banish poverty, empower the people, as well as lead to the progress of the country.In his address to members, the Zonal Secretary, Deacon Niyi Keneth Tinuola, tasked members not to relent in their efforts at increasing the membership of the society, stressing that the Federal and state governments were ready to assist members so that they could be self reliant and achieve their goals in life.He also encouraged those in private business, small and medium scale enterpreneurs, to embrace the cooperative society, stressing that members should have nothing to fear as it is a Federal Government's project. Other executive members of the cooperative society like Chief Folorunso Akanmu, who is the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area Coordinator, Princess Adelakun, a co-coordinator, the state secretary, Mr Samuel Oyadiran, another co-coordinator, Mr Gbolasere Adeyemi, as well as coordinators from different local government councils in the state witnessed the certificates awarding ceremony.
