Money: 2 Docked For Collecting Money Under False Pretences

Two persons, Christopher Okeleke and Mary Ayeni, yesterday appeared at an Ota Magistrates Court, Ogun State, for allegedly collecting N640,000 from one Mr Killian Nkire under false pretences.Okeleke, 54, and Ayeni, 42, who did not disclose their addresses in court, are facing a two-count-charge of conspiracy and collecting money under false pretences.The prosecutor, Sgt. Ebibomino Itaita, told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences sometime in 2013 at the Ota branch of Diamond Bank. Itaita said that the accused and their accomplices conspired to collect N640,000 from Nkire under the pretext that they would sell expired rice to the complainant, an agreement they did not fulfill.He said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.The chief magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.She said that the sureties should be residing within the courts jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.The post Money: 2 Docked For Collecting Money Under False Pretences appeared first on Nigerian News from Leadership News.
