Michael Strahan Will Join 'Good Morning America' Full Time

Hall of Fame football player and Fox football analyst Michael Strahan will be joining ABC's Good Morning America on a full-time basis in September,ABC News President James Goldston revealed Tuesday, per Michael Rothman of ABCNews.com.Strahan will be leavingLive with Kelly and Michael, the ABC morning show he has done withKelly Ripa since 2012."I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team atGMA,"Strahan toldMarisa Guthrieofthe Hollywood Reporter. "It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience."The shift doesn't come as a huge surprise, as Strahan had been making two appearances per week onGMAsince 2014.Michael has been a stellar addition tothe broadcast,"Goldston said in a memo to his staff, perBrian SteinbergofVariety. "Over the past twoyears onGMA, hes proven to be a tireless and versatile broadcaster with an incredible ability to connect with people, from veterans to American pop culture icons and newsmakers."Strahan, 44, will remain with Fox as a football analyst, according to Steinberg.In his 15-year career, all with the New York Giants, Strahan accumulated 141.5 sacks, the fifth most in NFL history. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler, a four-time Associated Press All-NFL selection and the 2001 AP Defensive Player of the Year.
