Paralympics Games village open today

THE Local Organising Committee for the London 2012 Paralympic games has announced that the games village will be opened today (Monday) for all the participating countries, as Team Nigeria arrives Tuesday.The London 2012 Paralympic games officially starts 29th August -9th September at the Olympic Stadium, Stratford.The information has it that the games village has been designed in such a way that will be convenient for the special sports athletes and is ready for the contigents.However, Tribunesports gathered that the Team Nigeria currently in South Korea camping would depart the country on Sunday and would arrive in London on Tuesday. The team on arrival would be received by officials of the National Sports Commission.The country would participate in athletics and powerlifting, though the total number of the contingent could not be ascertained as they rounded up their final screening and trials in South Korea few days back.But while speaking with Tribunesports on phone the head coach of the Powerlifting federation, Feyisatan Are informed that the powerlifters are in good shape for the games and that they are all ready to make the nation proud once again.''Though I am not saying we are winning these total number numbers of medals, but I am optimistic that we shall pick some medals and improve on our ratings in the world,'' he said.
