PDP chief faults calls for Jonathan's resignation

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has shown genuine concern to end the lingering insecurity in the country, following the readiness of the Federal Government to dialogue with the Boko Haram sect, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee (BoT) National Secretary, Senator Walid Jibrin.Besides, the PDP chieftain explained that there was no basis for those clamouring for the resignation of Jonathan to embark on such campaign at this critical period when all Nigerians needed to promote the unity in the nation, and also provide a level-playing field for Nigeria development.Jubrin who addressed a press conference at the weekend, said that'it is unreasonable to call for Goodluck Jonathan's resignation' at a critical period of nation-building and cohesion, adding that 'this is acritical time when all Nigerians need to unite in order to give thePresident the necessary support needed to keep Nigeria one and alsogive maximum assistance to curb the menace of insecurity in thecountry.'Listing the steps taken by Jonathan to ensure that the securitychallenges in the country were brought to an end, Jibrin remarkedthat 'the President has shown concern by his desire and ever ready to dialogue with Boko Haram believing that they are our brothers and sisters who should be listened to through dialogue.'Jibrin said: 'the President has exhibited enough maturity and concern on how to resolve the Plateau issue as demonstrated by his invitation of the Biron and Hausa Fulani people, with all sincerity to end the long crisis.
