Brazil receives Olympic flame for Rio Games

By Karolina Tagaris ATHENS (Reuters) - TheOlympicflame that will burn in Rio in August for the first Games in South America was handed over to Brazil on Wednesday in the marble stadium that hosted the first modern Games in 1896. From its overnight perch at the Acropolis museum, it travelled through the streets of Athens before being carried into the stadium - which was built in 330 BC - by Greek high jump Olympic medalist Niki Bakoyianni. Rio de Janeiro will host the Summer Olympics fromAug. 5-21but preparations have been plagued by the country's worst recession in decades and attentions distracted by political turmoil.
