Volkswagen, Skoda, others test strength in Lagos

AS part of strategies to demonstrate the durability of European products under its stable, the management of Stallion Motors Limited recently made available Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda offspring for a test drive in Lagos State.Stallion Motors explained that the test drive was aimed at giving journalists who participated in the exercise an opportunity to examine the products in detail.The Deputy Managing Director (European Brands), Mr. Julian Hardy,explained that the test drive was also intended to serve as a reminder that the European brands were the origin of automobile engineering and 'remained the brands to beat.'At the end of the exercise, motoring journalists present rated the products very high in terms of stability, comfort and safety attributes.Some of the models made available for the exercise include, Volkswagen Amarok pick-up, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Tiguan and Volkswagen Touareg.From the Audi stable were the A4, A6, A8 and Q7 while Skoda paraded Superb, Octavia and Fabia.The exercise, which lasted for about three hours started off from the Porsche Centre, Victoria Island to Banana Island Estate through Chevron Pavilion, Lekki Peninsula allwithin the Lagos metropolis.Speaking at pre-test drive briefing Hardy said: 'European engineered vehicles are value-driven cars with exceptional inputs to deliver optimum value while also reassuring on sophistication and comfort.'Besides, he explained that the test drive was one of the numerous steps the company had put in place to herald the 'Stallion European Motor Show' slated for September 2012.The show according to Stallion Motors was expected to arouse the consciousness of motorists and helped them rediscover the potentials of European engineered vehicles such as Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda range of vehicles.Stallion Motors' European brand division, according to the companywould in September 2012 commence a free service clinic for Volkswagens, Audi and Skoda vehicles at all stallion workshops in Nigeria.Hardy said that the exercise was aimed 'to reunite us with old and new customers and solve whatever challenges they may have encountered.'Top European car manufacturers like Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen produce some of the best performing vehicles on the road and are evidence in many consumers' reports that have shown how sturdy in design and build strength European brands of vehicles are.'He was accompanied at the event by Mr. Anurag Shah, sales and marketing director, Audi and VW Centre, Mr. Amit Sharma, sales and marketing director, Volkswagen commercial, Mr. Snajay Rupani, sales and marketing director, Skoda World and Mr. Munish Sharma, service manager, European brands, Stallion Motors.
