Keshi: Eagles won't find Liberia funny

THE Senate Committee on sports has been called to expedite action on the renovation of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in order to sustain the legacy of the country's foremost sporting edifice.A United States-based engineer, Adedokun Johnson-Agiri told Tribunesports yesterday of his concern for Awolowo Stadium which he described as national pride of the country.''It is a shame that Awolowo Stadium, the one-time edifying sporting and tourism structure has sunk into disrepair. I understand the Senate Committee on Sports had been here and has made promises but things are getting worse. Everywhere is bushy, stenchy and messy, this is unbecoming of what we should preserve and maintain as a legacy.''He called on sports authorities in the country to allow private individuals to contribute their quota to the maintenance of National Stadiums across the region of the country.''In the United States and in recreation and golf clubs in Nigeria, we can mobilise both financial and moral support for the Stadiums.We will convince the sports authorities that we are neither politicians nor contractors but well-wishers who are interested in getting back to shape our sporting facilities across the countries so that when foreign visitors visit our stadiums, they will have good impression about us.
