A laboratory of the AIDS Prevention Initiative (APIN) at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) was, on Thursday, gutted by fire.Details of the incident was sketchy at press time, as most of the principal officers of the hospital were not around when the fire started.Efforts made by the Nigerian Tribune to ascertain the cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not successful as of press time.The hospital image-maker, Mrs Hope Nwawolo, told the Nigerian Tribune in a telephone conversation that she had closed for the day and had gone home before she was informed of the incident.'I'm going there now. All I can tell you is that it is the APIN lab that was affected. Call me back in two hours time,' she saidAlso the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LUTH, Professor Akin Osibogun, told the Nigerian Tribune on phone that he was yet to see things for himself.'Give me time to see the extent.
