29-year old jailed for stealing car brain box

A Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, has sentenced a 29-year old man, Bashiru Oshoke, to three years imprisonment for stealing the brain box of a Toyota Coaster bus, valued at N120,000 and belonging to another man, Polycarb Obot.Chief Magistrate Olufemi Isaac handed down the jail term while giving judgement in the theft charge preferred against Oshoke by the Police.According to the Police Prosecutor, Assistant superintendent of police, Barth Nwaokoye had earlier stated before the court that Bashiru Oshoke and others at large, on July 30, 2012, at about 10:30 p.m., at Shasha, Lagos, conspired amongst themselves to commit felony to wit stealing.Nwaokoye stated that the offence committed was contrary and punishable under section 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state 2011.Bashiru Oshoke, was arraigned on a three-count charge of theft and malicious damage of property.One of the charge read, "that you Bashiru Oshoke and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal a brain box valued at N 120, 000, property of one Polycarb Obot and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011".The third count stated "that you Bashiru Oshoke did maliciously damage a coaster bus wires, property of Polycarb Obot and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 348 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.'The accused person pleaded guilty to the three-count offence and Chief Magistrate Isaac sentenced him to three years accordingly.Oshoke was sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine.
