The contract extension the club has offered me is a different role, and I hope everyone will understand I want to take the time to consider it carefully before making a decision."Earlier on Friday, it appeared the saga involving Terry and his Chelsea future was finally coming to an end, as the club announcedit had extended an offer for a one-year deal.The saga started when Terry told reporters the club would not give him a new contract in January, saying there wouldn't be a "fairytale" ending to his wonderful career in the English capital, per the Guardian's Dominic Fifield.The former England international was born in Barking and has played all of his club football in London, moving from West Ham United to Chelsea in 1995.Chelsea have been cautious in their handling of veteran players in the last few years, offering them only one-year deals or letting them walk, but most fans and pundits wanted the Blues to make an exception for Terry, one of the most beloved players in team history. Thousands of fans have even signed a petition, asking the club to give him the new deal he "deserves."It now seems as though Terry can continue his career with Chelsea, although it's unclear what his future role would be.
