Flamengoes land in Faro

THE Nigeria women's Under17 team, the Flamingoes have landed in Istanbul Turkey ahead of their two weeks training camp in Faro, Portugal.The contingent is expected to land in Faro, Portugal on Tuesday evening.The 23-man Nigerian contingent departed the Murtala Mohammed International airport by 10pm on Monday and arrived in Istanbul in the early hours of Tuesday.Four members of the Nigeria contingent were however stopped from travelling following irregularities in their travel documents.The four individuals, midfielder, Chidinma Eze, striker, Oluchi Ofoegbu and coaches Mansur Abdullahi and Taiwo Asiwajo will join the rest of the team in Faro, Portugal on Thursday.Nigeria are in Group A of the Fifa Women's Under17 World Cup which begins in Azerbaijan on September 22.The Flamingoes open their campaign against Canada in Baku on September 22. The Nigerians will then take on the hosts in Lankaran three days later before rounding off their preliminary campaign against Colombia on September 29 in Baku.
