Crisis looms as NPL expels Ocean Boys

KANO Pillars may have emerged winners of the 2011- 2012 Nigeria Premier League season, following the expulsion of Ocean Boys by the three-man committee set up by the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board to investigate the reasons given by the Yenagoa team, for failing to honour four of their matches.Cash strapped Ocean Boys were unable to honour their fixtures against Wikki Tourists, Kaduna United, Kano Pillars and Rising Stars.The committee's decision leaves Pillars with 60 points minus the four points they got from Ocean Boys, Lobi Stars minus the six points garnered from the Brass based club will be left with 57 points.With Week 38 expected to hold tomorrow, Pillars can only lose the title if Lobi records a massive win over Kaduna United just as Sunshine Stars must wallop the Kano team.With six points deducted form their haul, Rangers International are out of contention for the league shield as deduction of six points from their points will leave them with 55 points and victory over Sharks in their last game will take their total haul to 58.
