Cross River promises best World Mountain Running tourney

ELATED by the hosting right awarded his state for the 30th World Mountain Running Championships, Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, haspromised that his state would set a benchmark in the organisation of the competition.The championship would hold at the Obudu Ranch Resort in 2014.Speaking to WMRA officials and delegates at the association's meeting in Italy penultimate weekend via a recorded video message, Imoke said the championships in Obudu would be the best ever.According to the his Commissioner for Sports, Patrick Ugbe, who attended the meeting, Imoke 'expressed his total commitment to the project and assured that all that is needed to be done to make the championships a huge success would be done.'Ugbe added that Imoke's message and the general acknowledgement, especially by WMRA President, Bruno Gozzelino, of the huge successthe annual Obudu International Mountain Race has recorded since its inaugural edition in 2005, earned Obudu the nod to host the tourney in 2014.'Imoke has been the pillar behind the success of the annual mountain race. This fact is not unknown to WMRA president, who upon noticing the governor's commitment to the race, urged him to bid for the 2014 championships,' he said.
