Kogi pupils to get free textbooks

KOGI State government is to commence free distribution of textbooks, exercise books and other writing materials towards encouraging learning among pupils in the state.The move is in line with its bid to offer free education in the state in the years ahead. .Governor Idris Wada stated this while commencing the distribution of free textbooks and writing materials to public schools in Mopamuro Local Council, initiated by the Liaison Officer 1 of the council, Mr. Folorunsho Daniyan. The event coincided with Mopa Day celebrations 2012, organised by Mopa Welfare Society. .The governor described primary education as the bedrock to quality education and improved standard of education in the country, assuring that the state government will work towards achieving same for public schools in the state.While Wada declared zero tolerance for exam malpractice in the state, he assured that collective efforts by parents, teachers and the government is what is needed to achieve improved standard of education clamored for in the country.Earlier Daniyan had disclosed that the free educational materials for schools was aimed at assisting pupils who will be resuming the new session.
