Expert Advises Resident Doctors On New Skills

The President, Medical Entrepreneurs Ltd., Dr Kunle Adeyemi-Doro, on Thursday, advised resident doctors to support the development of new skills, aimed at enhancing productivity in the health sector.Adeyemi-Doro gave this advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.He said doctors should ensure sustainable standard in their profession and support the residency to remove all the barriers that could hinder early completion of their programmes.Doctors need to evolve business environment around health care such as patients awareness and information, changing technologies, drug discoveries and multiplicity of specialties.Doctors need to acquire wider skills to survive as well as focus on productivity and cost effective values.Also, there is the need to develop a financial programme that enables every resident doctor to spend six to 12 months outside the country.This will enable them to acquire new skills and broaden their outlook, aimed at enhancing effective health care delivery, Adeyemi-Doro said.
