Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has indicated he could leave the Camp Nou this summer amid rumours linking him with Serie A champions Juventus, proclaiming he doesn't like to "cling" to things. When asked about his chances of leaving Catalonia, Mascherano told Argentinian broadcaster TyC he doesn't know whether he'll depart "now, in one year or in three years" and suggested all is not well at Barcelona (h/tSport):Its a rumour, I am at Barcelona and I have always said I am really grateful to the club. What will happen in the future, I cant say, but I dont like to cling on to anything. There are people in the club who know the opinion I have about what I have had to experience in the last year, theres public knowledge of all the problems I have had on a personal level. The opinion I have on this matter is known by the board, the manager, the sporting director... everyone is clear and knows [what I think]. I cant be denying rumours all the time, I would go mad.I am not talking about a departure, either. I am grateful to the clubs who have given me an opportunity. Barca have helped me be recognised on a worldwide level and I have won many titles.I dont know when the end [at Barca] is. I always analyse situations. I think that to leave a club like Bara, you have to weigh up a lot of things. But the day will arrive when it ends, I dont know if it will be now, in one year or three years.Spanish newspaperMundo Deportivo also sourced quotes from TyC, adding Premier League pair Manchester United and Arsenal are ready to battle Juve and Internazionale for Mascherano (h/t theDaily Star's Jamie Styles). The former Liverpool anchor also hinted he hasn't enjoyed his switch to centre-back since arriving at the Camp Nou in 2010, adding: "There is dark side, the best years of my career have not been spent in the position I wanted to play."A switch could well see Mascherano granted his desired return to a more advanced role should Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri have plans to reinstall him in to defensive midfield at club level.BBC Sport reported he paid 1.75 million (1.3 million) and appeared in court in an attempt to avoid going to prison for tax fraud last year. Reuters journalist Richard Martin believes theseissues are another potential factor in his decision to leave La Liga:The 31-year-old could be envisioned as a valuable, versatile member of Allegri's plans in Turin, especially with Claudio Marchisio set to miss the start of the 2016-17 campaign with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. However, ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan voiced the opinion talks of a move to Juve are merely aimed at securingMascherano a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2018:At 31 years of age, the Argentina international's next contract may be the last he sees at the top level. He's likely looking to add to a trophy cabinet that already holds four Primera Division titles, two UEFA Champions League crowns and three Copa del Reys.Gerard Romero ofSport reported on Wednesday that an agreement has already been struck between Juventus and Mascherano over a summer switch, and rumours will only intensify now the veteran has suggested his time in Barca could be drawing to a close.
