Man Bags 2 Months Imprisonment For House Breaking

A Jos Chief Magistrates Court on Friday sentenced a 25-year-old man, Femi Sani, to two months in prison for house breaking.Sani of Zarmaganda, Jos, was charged with mischief, house breaking and attempt to steal.The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tijanni Zololo, handed down the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to the crime and begged for leniency.Zololo, however, gave the convict an option of fine of N2,000.The magistrate said that the sentence was to serve as deterrent to those who might want to engage in similar act.The Prosecutor, Cpl. Yange Terzugwe, had earlier told the court that one Thompson Adamu of Rantya Low Cost, Jos, reported the matter at the Nasarawa Gwom Police Station on May 21.Terzugwe said that the accused broke into the complainants house in an attempt to steal from him but was arrested and taken to the police station.Sani successfully gained entrance into the complainants house through the fence but luck ran out on him when he tried to gain entrance into the house.He jumped into the house through the ceiling and landed right in front of the complainant, he said.The prosecutor said that the accused destroyed the complainants PVC ceiling valued at N65,000.He added that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 346, 327 and 95 of the Penal Code.
