FG includes 75,000 military retirees in NHIS

THE Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday, approved the inclusion of 75,000 military retirees and their families in the benefit package of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as a way of boosting the morale of not just the retirees but serving troops.Similarly, it approved a N13.2billion contract for Phase 2 of the provision of primary engineering infrastructure to Mbora District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), bringing the total cost of the project to about N19.9billion.Briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan who, surprisingly, cut short his trip to Botswana on Tuesday night to return to Abuja, the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, assisted by the Minister of Environment, Hajia Hadiza Mailafia, Minister of State for FCT, Chief Olajumoke Akinjide and Minister of State for Defence, Chief Olusola Obada, said the memo for the retirees' inclusion in the NHIS was presented by the Ministry of Defence.Leon Usigbe, Abuja
