Sharks puts N25m on Eguavoen's table

NIGERIA Premier League (NPL) side, Sharks of Port Harcourt has put N25 million on the table for the former coach of Enyimba, Austin Eguavoen, to take over as new coach for the new season.An agency report revealed that Eguavoen has already begun discussions with top officials of the Rivers State Government to take over the Port Harcourt-based club and was even at the team's last game of the season against Enugu Rangers.It is understood that Eguavoen would take over from John Obuh, who Rivers' officials said is pre-occupied with the Nigeria U-20s. Sharks finished seventh this past season with 52 points from 36 matches.Eguavoen, on the hand, quit Enyimba before the season's end. The former international defender has handled both the Super Eagles and the country's Olympic team.Sharks recently suspended 17 players and their coaches with the exception of Flying Eagles' handler, Obuh, over alleged anti-club activities. The coaches included former junior international, Imama Amapakabo.According to a top club official, the suspension was in relation to Sharks 2-3 home loss to Wikki Tourists in a Nigeria Premier League Week 37 game. Sharks' final game of the season was away to Enugu Rangers, which the Port Harcourt side lost 0-3.
