Nwankwo donates books to 200 institutions, banks today

THE present gaps in resource materials for practitioners and students of banking and finance in Nigeria may soon be a thing of the past as one of the veterans of Nigeria's finance industry donates high profile books and research reports to 200 banks, libraries and tertiary institutions spread across the 36 states of the federation.The donor, Professor Green Nwankwo, said the books would be presented to the beneficiary institutions today in an elaborate event in Lagos, that would mark the beginning of a new private initiative to drive the process of equipping the country's tertiary institutions and industry groupsNwankwo, who was the founding Head of Department of Finance and former Dean of Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Lagos, and the pioneer Executive Director Monetary and Banking Policy at the Central Bank Of Nigeria, said 8,000 books would be given out to the beneficiary institutions and organizations under his Professor Green Onyekaba Nwankwo Foundation book donations program.According to him the key objective of the program is to demonstrate accountability and stewardship to his professional world of finance and academics. He said having kept faith with what was entrusted to him by the society and having retired from active engagements in both, it was still imperative for him to continue to appreciate the society beyond his over four decades of contribution to Nigeria's economic development with his ideas.
