Moneygram' building brand presence with new partnership

Published by Guardian on Mon, 17 Sep 2012

THE signing of money transfer partnership agreement between Moneygram and Ecobank Nigeria has been described by the Vice-President, Africa, Moneygram, Mr. Herve Chomel, as an effort geared towards strengthening Moneygram's brand awareness in Nigeria in a unique way.Speaking in Lagos last week, Chomel said that signing on Ecobank Nigeria to deliver service through its 600 locations nationwide was a step in the right direction that will further build on the Moneygram brand which stands for safe and reliable money transfer services as well as the company's global network of 222,000 money transfer agent locations. He noted, 'Around the world, Moneygram can be found in the world's largest retailers, post offices and financial institutions. In Nigeria, our large network of agent banks provides convenient and reliable access in both rural and urban Nigeria.'On why Nigeria is a key market, he said that Nigerians generally live in major cities such as London, Birmingham and Manchester, although they can be found throughout the U.K.'More than 95 percent of the U.K. population lives within a mile of a Moneygram location, so wherever Nigerians are in the U.K., we are confident that they will be able to find a convenient Moneygram location.'Moneygram supports the diaspora as well, and I am not just talking about our convenient locations and low fees. We actively sponsor and participate in a number of community events ranging from sports, beauty contests, comedy shows featuring popular Nigerian comedians such as Julius Agwu and religious gatherings.'According to Chomel, the company is happy partnering with Ecobank Nigeria because both organisations share a common passion for excellence, which manifests itself in terms of customer service, good corporate governance and business ethics, technological advancement and investment in people. It is for these reasons, he said, management was confident that Ecobank would be a great partner in helping its customers to send their love and hope for the future back to Nigeria, wherever they are in the world. He maintained, 'For our customers in Nigeria, in the U.K., in the United States, or indeed, wherever they may be, our partnership with Ecobank is great news. It demonstrates our commitment to continually improving our service and making it even more relevant to the needs of our customers. On behalf of Moneygram, I would like to thank all of our esteemed customers immensely for their support and loyalty over the years, and would like to assure them of our company's commitment to continuing to serve them sell in the future'.Money 1: The Vice President, Africa Moneygram International, Mr. Herve Chomel, Executive Director, Domestic Banking, Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Kingsley Aigbokhaevbo and Funwa Akinmade, Head, Products, Ecobank Nigeria at the partnership agreement signing between Ecobank Nigeria and Moneygram in Lagos yesterday.
