Germany Rewards Electric Car Users 4,000 Euros

Published by Leadership on Fri, 03 Jun 2016

As climate change discussions in Europe gravitate to the provision of smart road systems, German government has set a 4,000 Euros stimulant to attract users to purchase electric cars. The incentive is co-funded by the government and auto industry that will donate 600m Euros each to subsidise the electromobility scheme.Further, buyers of the electric car are exempted from tax payments for the next 10 years. The incentive provided by the government and the electric car companies aim at encouraging citizens to invest in the expensive cars as means to environmental sustainability. Electric cars also reduce carbon monoxide (C04) emissions in the atmosphere, as a means of switching to low carbon economies. Our government is employing stimulants to get people to buy electric cars. It means that if you buy an electric car, you will be supported financially by the government. It means you will get 4,000 euros from the government and the industry, says Kornelia Bitzer-Zenner, Head of Press and Cultural Department of the German Embassy, Abuja, Nigeria.Climate change and environmental sustainability discussions have been ongoing in Germany for the past four decades. Zenner affirmed that Germans were skeptical initially about the subject. However, with incentives such as above, the people have acclimatised. In Germany, every household is taking measures to become more energy efficient. They use white washers (washing machines), and we try not to produce as much trash as possible. You can never be green enough.Zenner advised that Nigerian government focus more on the education of the grassroots and school children to generate awareness and interest in environmental sustainability. When the children are educated not to use plastic bags and bottles, and we get them to think about how to re-use things, they will teach their parents, Zenner enthused. The post Germany Rewards Electric Car Users 4,000 Euros appeared first on Nigerian News from Leadership News.
