LEAGUE UPDATE: Baribote begs aggrieved stakeholders

Published by Tribune on Wed, 19 Sep 2012

DISTURBED by the number of litigations hindering the progress of the league, the chairman of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board Victor Rumson Baribote said the league has been made to suffer enough. He has, therefore, extended an olive branch to all aggrieved persons and groups by appealing to them to sheath their swords and embrace peace. Some people are still kicking against the emergence of Baribote as the NPL chairman, some have levelled number of allegations against him, while the league sponsorship issue is also in court. All these, according to the former Bayelsa United boss are worrisome and have remained stumbling block to whatever plans the board has to move the league forward.Speaking on a television programme last week, the NPL boss called on every concerned Nigerian to help in appealing to those aggrieved in one way or the other to bury their grouse and embrace the board in the interest of the Nigerian league.''Nigerian league can rank among the best in the world with what we have, but if there are crisis all over, litigations here and there, it will take us nowhere but will only succeed in taking us backward.''Therefore, I want to appeal to every concerned Nigerians to help us appeal to those with litigations to withdraw them and let every aggrieved persons embrace peace so that we can move forward,'' said Baribote.
